WON AWARDS IN BELARUS AND IN SPAIN
At the MIFF - Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad” 2013 the Bulgarian documentary “Tzvetanka” by Youlian Tabakov won Special Jury Award.
At the MiradasDoc 2013 - International Documentary Film Festival in Spain, “Tzvetanka” by Youlian Tabakov won the Award by the Public.
THE BULGARIAN ANIMATED DOCUMENTARY FILM “FATHER”
WON FIRST PRIZE IN CHICAGO
At the 31st annual Chicago International Children's Film Festival, October 24 - November 2 2013, the Bulgarian animated documentary film “Father” by Ivan Bogdanov, a co-production with Croatia and Germany, won the 1st Adult Jury Prize for Best Animated Documentary film.

At the 35th Montpellier International Festival of Mediterranean Film, 25 Oct.-2 Nov. 2013, the Bulgarian short feature film “Jump” by the directors Petar Valchanov and Kristina Grozeva won Jury Special Mention.

WON THE STATE AWARD "ST. PAISII HILENDARSKI"
The Bulgarian State Award for Culture for 2013 was awarded to one of the most famous Bulgarian scriptwriters, writer and director Angel Wagenstein for his lifelong achievement in cinema art and literature.

BEST BULGARIAN FILM AT FILMINI 2013
The International Jury at the 5th edition of FILMINI International Short Film Festival, 16-21 of October 2013, decided to give the Best Bulgarian Film Award ex-aequo to the short features “Pride” by Pavel Vesnakov and “Jump” by Petar Valchanov and Kristina Grozeva.
The Award consists in rendering film equipment for the overall sum of 5000 BGN by Magic Shop and post-production services for the overall sum of 2400 BGN by Cinemotion for the making of a new film by the winners.

At the 29th Warsaw Film Festival 2013, the Bulgarian film produced by the Bulgarian National Television “Alienation” by the young director Milko Lazarov with producer Christo Zhivkov, was awarded by the International Jury with the Grand Prize in the Competition program for first and second films. The award was shared ex-aequo with Tudor Jurgiu's film "The Japanese Dog" (Romania).

At the Romania – IFF 2013 the Best Director Award of the CineBlackSea section, decided by the public, was granted this year to the Bulgarian director Iliya Kostov for the dramatic comedy “The sunny side”.

At the Ladakh International Film Festival 2013, India, the Bulgarian documentary “Tzvetanka” by Youlian Tabakov, producer Martichka Bozhilova – AGITPROP, co-production with Sweden, won Jury Grand Prize Snow Leopard Award.
Adam Nilson - the cameraman of the same film “Tzvetanka”, won Snow Leopard Award for the Best Cinematography.

AT THE LET’S CEE FILM FESTIVAL IN VIENNA
The Bulgarian documentary “The Last Black Sea Pirates” by the young director Svetoslav Stoyanov, scriptwriter Vanya Rainova, producer Martichka Bozhilova, won the Award for Best documentary at the LET’S CEE Film Festival in Vienna, September 2013, for films from Central and Eastern Europe, Caucasus region and Turkey. The Jury awarded the film for “an extraordinary, fairy tale-like and black-humored story about a gang of treasure hunters who live on the edge of society and fight civilization”.

On the Day of Sofia capital - 17 of September 2013, at Official ceremony the Sofia Municipality awarded the famous Bulgarian scriptwriter Hristo Ganev with the Special Award for lifelong achievement.
Ilian Metev was awarded for his film " Sofia's Last Ambulance" with the Sofia Municipality Award for Achievement in Cinema Art.

At the 9th World Festival of Animated Film 2013 in Varna, Bulgaria, “Jungle Under the Window” by Ivan Veselinov was awarded with Short Film Diploma by the Jury.
"The Patch" by Milena Simeonova received the FILMAUTHOR's Award "Donyo Donev" for Best Bulgarian Film.
THE BULGARIAN FILM “ALIENATION” WON TWO AWARDS AT THE 70th VENICE FILM FESTIVAL
At the 70th Venice Film Festival in September 2013 the Bulgarian film “Alienation” by Milko Lazarov, produced by Bulgarian National Television, won two awards.
“Alienation” won Special Mention of Europa Cinemas Label Award.
Milko Lazarov was awarded as a Best director of a debut film by Fedeora - Federation of Film Critics of Europe and the Mediterranean.
THE SHORT FEATURE FILM “PRIDE” BY PAVEL VESNAKOV WON SPECIAL JURY MENTION IN SARAJEVO
At the 19th Sarajevo Film Festival 2013 the short feature film “Pride” by Pavel Vesnakov (Bulgaria, Germany) won Special Jury Mention. For a second time the International Jury at this festival awards a film by Pavel Vesnakov – last year he won the Special Jury Mention for his short “The Paraffin Prince”.

WON “GOLDEN APRICOT” IN YEREVAN
At the Golden Apricot International Film Festival 2013 in Yerevan, Armenia, the Bulgarian film “The Last Black Sea Pirates” by the director Svetoslav Stoyanov, script writer Vanya Rainova and producer Martichka Bozhilova, won the Award for Best Documentary Film “Golden Apricot” in the documentary competition.

At the 22 GOLDEN KNIGHT Film Festival in Khabarovsk, Russia, the Bulgarian animation “The Pianist” by Asya Kovanova and Andrey Kulev won Bronze Knight Award.
Bronze Knight Award for debut won “Faith, Love and Whiskey” by Kristina Nikolova.
The documentary film “Penniless” by Rosen Elezov won Jury Special Mention.
Tsvetodar Markov’s first feature film “Hunting Down Small Predators” won Jury Special Mention for debut.
One for all Jury Special Mention for nice directing won also 4 films by film students: “History under Bulldozer” by Mariella Grigorova, “Human Ear” by Diana Pavlova, “Rhythm in the Veins” by Ivan Menkachev and “Elaza” by Tsvetomir Mattev.
The Bulgarian film critic Olga Markova was awarded for her two books on cinema "The Masters of the Big Cinema"and "The Last Mohicans in cinema".
The Bulgarian film director Gueorgui Stoyanov was awarded for his book "Voucher California - Gulag"

The Bulgarian feature film produced by the Bulgarian National Television “Yellow Dog”, director Maria Nikolova, won the Prix CIRCOM Аward for 2013 by the European Association of Regional Television in the category “Fiction and Drama”.

At the 5th International Student Film Festival “DukaFest” in Banja Luka, Republic of Srpska, the Bulgarian film “Botev is an Idiot” by Deyan Bararev – a student in the New Bulgarian University, won Best Feature Film Award. The award was given for “an active and current national debate and unmasking of mythology through an open experimental form realized in the frame”. The film was realised with the support by “Audiovideo ORPHEUS” Inc.

At the 10th Annual International Student Film Festival Hollywood the Bulgarian student from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art Tsvetan Naydenov won the Best Foreign Language Experimental Award for his film "Choice". At the same time his film "World" was also among the 69 titles of the official selection chosen among nearly 300.

The Kristina Nikolova’s feature directorial debut won also Special Mention at the Baja International Film Festival 2012 in Mexico.

And his film “Nightingale in December”/“Rossignoils en December”, Canada, received Jury’s Special Mention.

Bulgarian film "Tilt" by Viktor Chuchkov Jr. was bestowed the Best International Feature Award at the Independent Filmmakers Showcase' 2012 in Los Angeles, California.
The film, which was Bulgaria's nomination for “Oscar” in the foreign film category, did not make the final five cut, but remains one of the most popular foreign features at California's film fests.

At the Festival of Central and Eastern European Film, hosted by Deutsches Filminstitut in Wiesbaden, the Award for Best Director donated by the State Capital of Wiesbaden (7,500 Euro) went to AVÉ (Bulgaria 2011) by Konstantin Bojanov. The jury awarded this film because it displays assured and remarkably precise directorial skills, turning a small, humble subject matter into a moving event.
Co-Production Prize for Bulgarian–German Project “MANGO MANGA” at goEAST’ 2012 in Wiesbaden
For the sixth time at goEast the Robert Bosch Stiftung presented the Co-Production Prize for young filmmakers from Germany and Eastern Europe in the categories Animation, Documentary and Short Feature Film. In the category Animation the Co-Production Prize 2012 went to the Bulgarian–German Project “MANGO MANGA” by producer Samuel Weikopf, director Milen Vitanov and scriptwriter Vera Trajanova. The project faces up to the challenge of expressing the ill-treatment of a minority group with artistic and commercial animation techniques.

The Bulgarian documentary film “PARADISE HOTEL” (HOTEL RAI) by Sophia Tzavella, 2010, producers AGITPROP, HBO Central Europe and HBO Bulgaria, won Best Social Documentary Award MIDA at the Shanghai Television Festival 2011.
Sophia Tzavella’s “Paradise Hotel” won also the FIPRESCI Award for best film in the international selection at the 13th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival as well as ERT3’ Award at the same festival.

Bulgarian students from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFIZ) received awards at the Lions International Short Film Competition 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey.
Petra Katrandzhieva and her film "The Bed" received the Award for Second Film in the Best Short Film category.
Ana Kitanova received Best Director Award for her work "The Pillow".

KRZYSZTOF KIESLOWSKI SCRIPTEAST AWARD IN CANNES
The script "False Witness" by the Bulgarian film director Iglika Triffonova won the Krzysztof Kieslowski ScripTeast Award for 2011 for the best Eastern and Central European Script.
The Advisory Board explained their decision with the following statement: "Based on a true story, this extremely well-written account of one of the key trials of the Hague International War Tribunal reflects on some of the great confrontations of our times, including those between religions, political systems, and ideologies. It does so through an engaging examination of personal stories that is full of narrative twists and surprises, and will keep audiences on the edge of their seats until the very end. We believe it is a worthy winner of the Kieslowski award and look forward to seeing it on our screens soon."
